Class Cancellations - Covid-19

As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 situation please know that the safety and wellness of our students, staff, instructors and volunteers are our top priorities. As such, the decision is been made to suspend all Training Centre instructional activities, effective 5pm, Tuesday March 17, 2020. We will monitor this on a daily basis and are reaching out to our students with additional information. Social distancing is essential, and as our First Aid and CPR classes are group gatherings in close quarters, we want to ensure the safety of our instructors and clients. The most important way we can help increase public safety and wellness is by limiting our interactions through our classes. Students may transfer to another class in the future or to our blended online training at no cost. Please contact us at 1-780-482-7863 to speak with one of our customer service representatives.

CERTIFICATION CONCESSIONS

In light of current events and the suspension of training caused by the spread of COVID-19, St. John Ambulance, Alberta Council, with authority from Alberta Labour – OHS, will be making concessions on training certification.

Alberta/BC Certificate Portability

If you are moving from British Columbia to Alberta or vice versa it is important to understand how Alberta/BC Certificate Portability can help. Under the Trade, Investment, and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) between Alberta and British Columbia, a current Alberta certificate in Emergency, Standard or Enhanced First Aid Certification issued by an Alberta Approved First Aid Training Agency will be recognized in British Columbia. Alberta workers moving to BC or temporarily working in BC and requiring a BC certificate must apply in person to an Approved Training Agency in BC or an Alberta St. John Ambulance Centre for an “out-of-jurisdiction” certificate by producing their valid Alberta certificate and photo ID. An orientation package to WorkSafe BC requirements will be provided to applicants at the time of application. Min. age: 16
Workers moving from BC to Alberta must have a valid BC certificate and once in Alberta, receive an orientation from their employer on Alberta First Aid requirements. Alberta Work Safe bulletins which include the information required may be downloaded from the Alberta Government web site: www.worksafely.org  No additional certificate is required. The BC certificate is recognized until the expiry date. Once expired a full course must be taken in Alberta.

Alberta/BC Certificate Portability $50.00 (price will vary between provinces)

For more information about Alberta/BC Certificate Portability, contact the Program Coordinator at your local St. John Ambulance Training Centre.
