In the Community

As Canada’s standard for excellence in first aid and CPR services, St John Ambulance plays an integral role in our community. Building on a 900-year tradition, St John Ambulance offers innovative first aid programs and products and ensures that Canadians receive the best service, quality, and expertise.

Community Services volunteers provide first aid as well as emergency and disaster response support in times of crisis. This support improves the quality of life for the individuals who experience such life changing events. The scope of volunteerism is provincial, national, and international.

Programs such as Therapy Dog visitation, Child Safety Seat Training, first aid drills, and attendance at community events annually contribute thousands of hours to Albertan communities.

First aid and CPR training are comprised of instructors, volunteers, and staff who provide high-quality first aid training and products. Under the guidance of our network of medical and health care professionals, St. John Ambulance sets the standard for training in first aid, CPR, and other lifesaving skills and is the national leader in these areas. As a member of the NGO Council, our programs and training support our community partners, which include the Alberta Occupant Restraint Program, Alberta Health Services, RCMP, regional Police, Fire Fighters, and EMS.

St. John Ambulance’s operations are primarily supported through CPR, first aid, and other training programs which are guided by strong financial stewardship. Current infrastructure and service expansion requires the need for financial support.

As part of the commitment to creating a culture of safety in Alberta, St. John Ambulance holds yearly life-saving awards and recognition.

The crucial moments between when an emergency occurs and when help arrives are when St John Ambulance training can save lives.
